A Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is a long-range blueprint for transportation capital improvements, typically covering 20 years, that guides the development of a region’s transportation system. The importance of an RTP lies in its ability to align transportation investments with community priorities, promote equity and accessibility, and provide a clear framework for funding decisions—ultimately shaping how people move and connect across the region for decades to come.
